Apple Information Jazz™The newest addition to the apple family. Jazz™ apples are a crunchy, effervescent and distinctively original new variety. A cross between Gala and Braeburn apples, it has firm but dense flesh and a tangy, sweet flavour somewhat reminiscent of peaches and melon. Small to medium in size, Jazz™ apples feature a pink/red blush over a light green background. The variety has already proven to have good keeping qualities. The Jazz™ variety was introduced to Australian consumers by Montague Fresh in 2007 and was available for purchase only in a limited number of select produce stores in April last year. The apple is being grown in Batlow (NSW), Huon Valley (TAS), Adelaide Hills (SA), Stanthorpe (QLD), Manjimup (WA), Northern Tasmania and Southern Victoria, where the trees enjoy summer sun, high rainfall, cool winters and rich soil. Jonagold A large apple, the Jonagold is available from mid March - August and is suitable for both hot a cold recipes Jonathon The Jonathon apple is available in March - April. Its small size makes it a favourite with children Golden Delicious Mediumin size the Golden Del is available fromlate March - November. Popular in tarts and pies, Golden Del can be caramelised for cakes and muffins. Sundowner™ Sundowner™ apples are available September - February. These apples have a delicious taste with the sugar levels improving during storage. Sundowner™ apples are perfect for baking and are a great summer apple. Lady Williams The Lady Williams is a superb keeping apple. Medium in size, they're available in January. Lady WIlliams are great in salads and for snacking over spring and summer. Red Delicious is a medium to large apple that can be eaten all year round. They have a medium sweetness are crisp with white, juicy flesh. Use Red Delicious apples in salads for an extra treat. Granny Smith is harvested in March and available all year round. It is a hard, crisp tart flavour with white flesh. They are great for cooking, baking, freezing, making salads, sauces and pies. Royal Gala Royal Gala is available from early February - October. They're medium in size and have a sweet flavour, which makes them ideal for pies, sauces and salads. Fuji This applehas a high sugar content with watery appearance around the core, often cever in usset. Russet is a condition caused by contact with leaves and limbs with the skin or a reaction to the application of certain minerals and fertilisers. The Fuji apples skin is extremely delicate. Even the slightest contact results in the development of a very minor golden yellow mark. This condition can affecet up to 60% of the fruit on any tree. It is important to note that this russet does not affect the apples eating quality. Fuji apples are available mid April - December, are gre4at in salads and can be used in pies, sauces and can be frozen. Breaburn Braeburn apples have a unique combination of sweet and tart flavour. They're available June - September and are medium to large in size. Braeburn apples are ideal in pies and great for salds and sauces. Pink Lady™ Available late April - December. Pink Lady™ apples are relatively large with a firm, sweet, crisp, juicy flesh. Pink Lady apples are excellent in salads and perfect for pies and sauces. Cameo is crispy, juicy, snappy and Available in April only Firmgold has a sweet clean flavour and is best eaten naturally. Available May - August
